Dr. Melissa Billings, Board of Directors

Dr. Melissa (Nemmers) Billings is a native of Urbandale. Billings received her BA in Biology from the University of Northern Iowa in 1996. She graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2001 after completing internships in Ocular Disease, Contact Lenses, and Binocular Vision. She is currently a partner at Vision Park Family Eye Care in Urbandale and West Des Moines, IA. Dr. Billings was awarded Iowa’s “Young Optometrist of the Year” in 2004. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association, Iowa Optometric Association, Ankeny Free Church, and the Urbandale Caring Corps and serves on several committees within these organizations. She is President of the Des Moines Junior Women’s Club, At-large representative for Xcel Networking Club, and is very active in the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce where she serves as an Ambassador, on the Sample Urbandale and Educator Reception Committees, and on the Board of Directors. Additionally, Dr. Billings serves as the State Coordinator for the Vision USA program and is an InfantSEE Volunteer. She was the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Woman of the Year second-runner up for 2006. She also enjoys volunteering for Special Olympics.

In her free time, she enjoys running, watching she enjoys watching Ohio State football, and spending time with her husband, David, and her daughter, Ashtyn.
