Advocacy Committee

The mission of the Advocacy Committee of the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce is to review pending legislation and regulations for their impact on business and develop positions that will enhance economic growth. The committee also develops programs that inform and encourage members to participate in the Chamber's advocacy initiatives. Meetings take place with thoughtful dialogue on contemporary issues. Committee members receive regular legislative updates. Iowa Third Congressional District Candidate Questionnaire Results 2012 With several key business issues at the forefront in 2012, the newly created third congressional district in Iowa could impact the businesses of central and southwest Iowa for years to come. With two incumbent Congressmen in the race it is important for the electorate to understand where the candidates stand on key business issues. To better understand candidate positions on critical business issues, an online questionnaire has been created and sponsored by four chambers of commerce in the third congressional district. Congressman Leonard Boswell and Congressman Tom Latham received the questionnaire October 8 and were asked to return the survey by October 12. The questionnaire is designed to inform chamber members about the candidates and their positions on issues important to job creators in their district. Sponsoring chambers will send the results to their membership before the November election. This is not an endorsement of a candidate; it is an educational opportunity for local businesses to understand the position of the candidates. Attached is information on the candidates and the answers that were returned.
