CRITERIA
•The “Citizen of the Year” nominee may be a resident, business owner, or affiliated with an Urbandale business.
•Community involvement for purposes of selection of the “Citizen of the Year” nominee shall be defined in broad terms to include involvement in affairs beyond the scope of activities in Urbandale.
•The Nomination Committee shall look at involvement in the business, political, educational, and religious sectors in selecting the award winner. The winner does not need to come exclusively from the business sector.
•The award winner should be selected on the basis of community involvement in matters other than those relating to an individual’s job.

Annually a business is recognized by the Chamber at the Chamber's annual dinner for a business that has done the most for Urbandale. This year's nomination form is attached. Please submit by December 1, 2009 for consideration.

Chamber reaches membership milestone!
For the first time in the history of the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce the organization has exceeded 600 members! "This is truly a milestone for the Urbandale Chamber," said Craig Light, 2009 Chamber President. "We would not be experiencing this without the support and commitment of all of our members and dedicated volunteers." said Craig.

Our long sought after membership goal has been 600 members. So first a huge thank you to members 1 through 599 for your membership and your on-going support. Each of you are as equally important and we needed each of you to get to 600. The organization has no plans to stop promoting the benefits of membership. "The number of members is important because it strengthens our voice, but even more important are the benefits members experience," said Light. "The board is committed and will work diligently to strengthen the benefits package every year, which is vital to our success. But right now let us celebrate our milestone of 600 members. And now with great anticipation let us all together begin to focus on and create the paths for our new journey to 700 and even more membership value."

Thank you to Jeff Ellis, Director of Sales and Promotion at Firstcall Construction for promoting membership to our 600th member, Integra Electric Solutions. Just as important in reaching our goal was the 597th member, Skin Couture, Urbandale 598th member, Nite Owl Staffing, Urbandale and 599th member, Action Staffing, Ankeny.
